HR Manager

The successful candidate must be a flexible, self-starter, attentive to details, diplomatic, able to provide direction, and able to multi-task. This position will work with different personality types and across a number of publications. Candidates for this position should have strong interpersonal skills and client orientation and exhibit an ability to work effectively with internal and external contacts as a team member as well as a team leader.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform job duties and conduct self in accordance with company core values. 
  • Initiate and nurture effective, professional relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Reduction in force
  • Workflow Analysis to ensure a legally compliant and best practice approach to employee relations
  • Employee engagement and relation to encourage the retention of high-quality employees
  • Talent acquisition to ensure a legally compliant and best practice approach to employee relations to encourage the attraction high-quality employees
  • Training design and facilitation to include onboarding, sexual harassment, customer service, and leadership management 
  • Partner with top executive and mid-level management to assess needs to implement tactical and strategic solutions
  • Provide coaching and counseling to managers and employees
  • Implement human resources strategies, initiatives, policies, and procedures
  • Develop policies and procedures for the Employee Handbook.  Review the human resources policy and procedure SOP manual and Job Descriptions regularly to initiate change
  • Maintaining confidential information and documents
  • Assist in the conduct of employee activities as well as employee motivational committee
  • Recruit positions for Adams Publishing Group to include sourcing, posting advertisements, initial contact, interviewing, offer letters, and finally on-boarding.
  • Work with payroll regarding unemployment claims, FMLA, wage garnishments
  • Assist with filing workers compensation claims and FMLA requests with contracted agencies
  • Manage HR database and employee files for assigned employees
  • Help publishers/managers with employee issues, work with legal adviser on employment issues, review information prior to employee terminations
  • Oversee safety requirements in assigned offices and press facilities


Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Human Resource Generalist or related position.


Technology Skills:     

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.



Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
