Summary
The core responsibilities of this role will be focused on supporting the Sustainability team operations in developing its strategy, product and service offerings to support the ESG criteria of potential customers, which range from Fortune 500 businesses, public and government entities and NGOs. The Sustainability Analyst will report directly to the Director, Sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Working with the Director, Sustainability, develop internal ESG criteria for reporting within the Clean Energy Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR) that will align Clean Energy and CERF business practices and operations with the key ESG criteria of its target markets and companies.

Develop internal reporting protocol and policies surrounding RNG products, including customer reporting of volumes and GHG reductions, developing a standardized quarterly report that can be automated to the greatest extent possible.

Working with the Director, Sustainability, manage the process from start to finish of gathering information for updating and developing the annual CSR, with oversight from an independent third-party consultant.

Deploying the CSR as an additional resource to engage with customers and stakeholders on Clean Energy’s vision for a sustainable, clean air future in California and beyond.

Organize and develop a database containing companies and government/public entities that are ESG-focused and/or stated carbon or sustainability goals, including ESG-focused investment firms and managed funds.

Develop tailored, company and industry specific presentations and analyses that demonstrate the use of RNG as a sustainability and compliance tool for meeting ESG criteria.

Ownership of sustainability and carbon news and trends, including its application and use as a customer communication tool, providing regular updates to the team.

Research and report on market opportunities for RNG outside the RFS and LCFS that CERF is not currently participating in, specifically non-transportation ones.

Other Ad-hoc responsibilities and duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Marketing, Business or similar in a related field; 2-4 years of related experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the renewable fuels and energy industry welcome, but not required.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
