The Iowa County Highway Department is seeking applications for a full-time (40 hrs./wk.) Accountant Specialist.   Essential duties include a strong emphasis in allocation of cost and financial accounting.  Daily functions include data entry, clerical, accounting, reconciliation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other related financial accounting duties.  Hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Mon.– Fri., with the exception of the current May-September four day/ten hour workday days schedule.  Starting pay is $18.87/hr.- $20.97/hr. and a generous, comprehensive benefit package is provided.

Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to the following: high school diploma/GED, two (2) year degree in accounting or business accounting related educational background with preference for a four year degree; three (3) years of office experience that includes bookkeeping, accounting, and personal computer operation tasks; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.   Preference is for candidates with work experience in Public Works, Highway Department, or Construction industry related field and experience with AR, AP, payroll, governmental cost accounting, purchasing and inventory balancing.  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Powerpoint).   Familiar with a wide variety of computer software and office equipment including 10-key.
