Benefits Analyst researches, analyzes, evaluates, and administers corporate benefits plans and programs. Assists in determining impact of new benefit policies or provisions. Benefits Analyst provides analytics support to HR Leadership and Benefits team. Driving proactive data review and regulatory compliance in support of the NMHS Benefit Plans and policies. Leadership support during benefits audit, tax returns, and budget processes. Lead role in review of Health Plan data reporting for 1095c, ACA lookback period, and benefit survey requests.

Benefits Analytics:
  • Reporting benefits plan information to upper management.
  • Reporting and accounting for PBM bi-weekly Domestic and Non-Domestic Pharmacy Claims
  • Occasional balance sheet reconciliation research to assist Accounting and Benefits Specialist with account balancing
  • Bi-Weekly system review of Benefit elections for payroll balancing
  • Monthly ledger variance research for Benefits reporting as requested by Benefits Specialist/Acctg
  • Reporting of Benefits Open enrollment
  • Development, maintenance, and communication of monthly Benefits onboarding dashboard
  • Proactive data audits of HRIS for benefit plan compliance
  • Periodic engagement with voluntary benefits carriers and third-party onboarding vendor to troubleshoot HRIS enrollment issues
  • Providing information to explain changes in benefits to employees and answering employee queries about benefits policies.
  • Provides data as needed for benefits broker analysis
Workers Compensation & Regulatory Reporting:
  • Oversight of annual workers compensation self-insurance application renewal
  • Oversight of annual workers compensation actuary reporting
  • Ensuring that surety bonds and workers Compensation self-insurance policies are renewed on time so that there is no lapse in coverage
  • Completes the annual workers compensation assessments for MS and Alabama Departments of Labor; coordinates annual assessment payments
  • Annual Report for workers compensation of Alabama
Benefit Audit/Tax Returns/Budget:
  • Annual review of Benefit Audit drafts and tax returns
  • Coordinate with HR Leadership in the development of the annual benefits budget
Benefit Plan Regulatory:
  • Annual review of ACA reporting for annual open enrollment eligibility and annual 1095c regulatory requirements
  • Conducting audits of HRIS, benefits packages and policies to ensure that the company's processes are compliant.
  • Provides reporting for any benefit survey data requests submissions
  • Annual retirement reporting, regulatory testing, and payment calculation support
  • Annual FSA taxable reimbursement list for Accounting
  • Quarterly Taxable CSF points list for ITS and Accounting
Job Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Accounting, or related field; required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in benefits processes; preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal laws and regulations with regard to the processing of health and retirement benefits such as ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA to ensure compliance.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical skills to research and evaluate benefits programs to make informed choices.
  • The ability to present information clearly and in a manner that is understandable to managers and employees and to answer questions.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
