A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), under the direction of the medical staff, provides the daily activities involved in performing medical and health care functions which includes dispensing medications, assisting in the collection of random U/A’s, accurately recording disbursement of controlled substances, maintaining client medical records, and providing necessary services for the orderly operation of the dispensing department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers medications according to medical orders and ensures that the administration and accountability of controlled substances are in compliance with all federal and state laws;
Maintains client medical records as required by federal and state law, ensures efficient operation of the dispensing unit by adherence to policies and procedures of the unit;
Collection of random U/A’s as identified for the OARS Program as needed;
Draw Blood and Immunizations for HHSC, Medicaid and SAMHSA Programs as needed;
Ensures that all clients medical records contain appropriate signed documents and transcribes and implements all medical orders correctly in a timely manner, follows through with medical referrals to assure continuity of care;
Coordinates clients care with the other modalities of the agency to assure continuity of quality care;
Performs other duties as assigned by the Medical Administrator, Lead Nurse, Clinical Director and or CEO
Must have completed the required education and hold a current license by the State of Texas to practice as a Vocational Nurse.
Must renew LVN license to prevent expiring License.
