Research Assistant Professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City: Requires PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering or related field; 6 months postdoctoral training in surface chemistry; and research interest in surface modification strategies as demonstrated through at least 1 peer-reviewed publication. The Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will use expertise in surface chemistry to design, develop and test novel diagnostic sensor devices for important healthcare-related challenges such as detection of critical early biomarkers in atrial fibrillation (AFIB) surgery, anesthesia uses, opioid addiction, and diabetes. This includes devices for point-of-care detection and sensors for continuous monitoring that require chemical or biological components for the detection of a specific target analyte, which will be integrated with electronics for a digital readout system. Will pursue external funding from federal, state and industrial sponsors to support an independent research program focused on sensor development; will supervise students; present and publish scientific results.
